What A Realtors Day Looks Like

Posted: December 01, 2019 by Kathleen Taylor

Monday Morning To Sunday Night

Let’s start with a daily alarm at 630 am. You would automatically think I’m a mom first! Nope the Realtor is the first animal that comes out in me every morning.

I snooze the alarm at least once then grab my phone and check my texts, emails, and social media. At this point I reply to any messages that I received over night (yes all hours) and depending on what day it is I schedule my social media posts. I try to stay a week ahead so Monday mornings I pick something for a Monday and schedule it for the following Monday, Tuesday’s is my Tips and Tricks Tuesday, I get that ready for the following Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday etc etc.

7 am I move into Mom mode and wake up the kids of which I only have 2 however as every mom knows it sometimes feels like a million! For the next hour or so I try to multi task and return texts and get my kids off to school in clean clothes with a lunch and breakfast.

Back at my office (home office usually) I catch up on paperwork, set up emails, book appointments, work on things like my blog or social media.

Throughout this process,

I’m constantly modifying my day to accommodate any offers I’m doing which always take the front stage for obvious reasons. During offers I have regular communication with clients and other agents to deal with the negotiating  process. This process can take hours or days depending on the situation and the agent at the other end.

Every hour and every day requires flexibility, the ability to multi task and the ability to always know that your day will never ever be the same. I could wake up with nothing Real Estate related on my calendar and by 10 am its jammed with showings, appointments and multiple hurdles to jump.

Mom Mode Again

Late afternoon I start dinner so its prepared for when I leave to do showings, which are usually in the evenings, I may show 10 houses a day or 1 house a day, depends on the season, the market, and the client. you can imagine if its 10 a day how I may scramble to get things done, but being mobile helps.

Technology and Real Estate means:

Learning to use all the technology available to me has helped me to be able to manage a successful Real Estate career while juggling my family life as well. I may work on my blog on my mobile device while waiting for client at a showing, or I may sign a document for an offer while at my daughters equestrian event, or I might book a showing for a client while at my son’s hockey game. There are many many many tools available for a Real Estate Agents to help you be more on the move, and my children have grown up with me in the industry and have learned to be adaptive to my work and the no 9-5 hours.

By mid evening most showings are complete and I head to one of my kids events, home, catch up on more emails, texts, etc etc, some more “mom” duties and maybe a cocktail on the patio and off to bed to start again.

It looks a bit like this…..Monday – Sunday

630 am wake up

WORK WORK WORK

12 am go to bed

Note:

Its important to note that your day is constantly changing and that somewhere in and amongst the work is the time you make for friends and family, who also see my phone never stop. Always making room for social events, volunteer time, and other community happenings keeps you involved and constantly meeting new people and also keeps you up to date on the community your selling and promoting. I usually try and fit in something related to this weekly. It helps my sanity and it helps my business and it helps my community!

Day is done….

Sometimes I sell a house and sometimes I don’t! Welcome to Real Estate.
